Postpaid SIM Card Limit & SIM Card Checker

Updated over a week ago

To strengthen national security and better protect consumers against the evolving threat of scams, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is introducing new measures on the registration of postpaid SIM cards.

Below is a summary of the key changes and guidance on how you can manage your mobile lines.

1. What is the new SIM card limit?

Effective 28 February 2026, IMDA will introduce a stricter cap on the number of postpaid SIM cards that a single subscriber may hold.

Each consumer will be allowed a maximum of 10 postpaid SIM cards in total across all fully licensed mobile network operators in Singapore. This limit does not include data-only SIMs, CIS or Enterprise mobile lines.

2. Why is this limit being implemented?

The main objective of this mandate is to prevent the misuse of SIM cards for scam-related activities. By restricting the number of postpaid lines per individual, it reduces the ability of bad actors to circumvent security controls or carry out fraudulent communications.

For more detailed information on this regulation, please refer to the official IMDA press release here.

3. Does this affect my Corporate or CIS lines?

The new limit applies specifically to consumer postpaid mobile lines only. It currently excludes lines registered under Corporate Individual Scheme (CIS) or business accounts.

4. What is the SIM Card Checker?

The SIM Card Checker is a self-service portal developed by IMDA (with support from SGNIC and GovTech) that allows you to check and verify the number of postpaid SIM cards registered under your ID across all service providers in Singapore. This helps ensure that no unauthorized lines have been registered without your knowledge.

5. How do I use the SIM Card Checker?

The portal is designed to be secure and user-friendly. Please follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Visit the official portal at go.gov.sg/simcardhowmany.

  • Step 2: Log in securely using your Singpass.

  • Step 3: Enter your Email address when prompted.

  • Step 4: Enter the verification code sent to your email to authenticate your request.

  • Step 5: Check your inbox. You will receive an automated email from [email protected] containing the complete list of all postpaid numbers registered to your ID.

6. When will these changes take effect?

Please take note of these two key dates:

  • 26 February 2026 9am: The official launch of the SIM Card Checker portal.

  • 28 February 2026: The Global Postpaid SIM Card Limit (max 10 lines) goes live across Singapore.

7. What if I see a number I don't recognize?

If the SIM Card Checker email shows a mobile number registered under your ID with MyRepublic that you may have forgotten about, you may contact us to verify the details (e.g., registration date). Please note that we will require authentication before sharing any detailed information. We appreciate your understanding, as this measure ensures that your personal data is disclosed only to you and not to any unauthorized party.

If you confirm that a mobile number registered under your ID with MyRepublic is fraudulent, we strongly advise you to file a police report immediately.

8. How do I terminate a legitimate number under my ID?

If you have identified active numbers that you no longer use and wish to terminate, please contact us directly. Our team will assist you with the termination of any MyRepublic lines.
